And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12
Statistics and Predictions of Jesus As the Christ
In my last entry, I shared with you several of the over 300 Old Testament prophecies and predictions that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah and the Christ. Some of you might be saying, “That’s just coincidence. Jesus just happens to fulfill all of those predictions from hundreds of years prior to his birth. Those are just random circumstances. Here is a brief paragraph from Max Anders in the book Thirty Days To Understanding the Bible where he discusses in statistics something called the Law of Compound Probabilities:
“Dr Stoner calculated what the percentage would be for Christ to fulfill just 48 prophecies with his birth and life and came up with the following statistic it ended up 1x 10 (157th power). This figure is beyond human comprehension; yet Christ fulfilled over 300 distinct prophecies. If Jesus had fulfilled just eight prophecies, the likelihood of that would be mathematically equivalent to covering the entire state of Texas 2 feet deep in silver dollars, specially marking one of them, and instructing me to pick the right silver dollar on the first try. I’m on call if anyone wants to give this a try!”
So for any of you needing proof that Jesus is the Christ, here is your proof. Statistics proves that Jesus is who the Old Testament says He is. Jesus is who eye witnesses who lived as his contemporaries say he is. Jesus is who God the Father says He is. Jesus is who He Himself says He is. Given this proof, who do you say Jesus is?
