If you haven’t noticed, people in our culture today are starving for authentic relationships. Many people live a life of loneliness and isolation living without deep satisfying friendships. Im not talking about surface level “friendly” relationships. I mean all of us want to truly know people and be known by them. We want “I can call you at 3:00 AM” types of friends. We want friends we can be ourselves with and hang with. Several key factors make relationships the top priority at Intersect.
Relationships are what the people of Intersect are about. Our mission statement reads like this: Intersect Church exists to lead people into transformative, loving relationships with God and others. It’s in our DNA. Highly relational people are attracted to our church. People who come here are not people who shy away from loving people. Just the opposite, here you will find warm, accepting people just like you who foster healthy relationships. Since we are doing a church for people who don’t do church, we are extremely open to everyone!
Size
Since we are a new church, we are relatively small. The smaller church provides a family environment. Here you are not just known by a number or as just another face in the crowd. People greet you by name and actually take a strong interest in you as a person! In a huge mega church, this type of personal, customized experience is impossible. But at Intersect, you quickly will become one of us.
Strategic Decisions
We have taken much time to ask the question, “What does God use to truly transform people’s lives?” Our answer is simple— relationships. We put relationships over programs. We are convinced that programs do not equal life change. Attending a class, faithful involvement in a prescribed curriculum, or ritualistic religion does not change people’s lives. Truth poured into loving, caring relationships become the vehicle through which God transforms our hearts and lives. So we keep things simple and organic. We do Sunday mornings, small group Bible studies, and service to our community and world. All of these become environments where real relationships with people just like you can occur.
Intersect Church is a church for our community. We are externally focused and resist the temptation to become inwardly focused. Many people justifiably are skeptical of churches because of the typical selfish approach. We put our money where our mouths are in terms of serving the community. Since our inception, we have been active in serving through these types of activities: renovating housing units at our local housing authority, canned food drives, clothing drives, free parents night outs, putting on events for housing developments, and various other ways. Excellent Ministry to Children
Did you know that half of the population in our area is under the age of 30? Isn’t that amazing? That means that thousands of parents like you are searching. Parents want to find a church that will partner with them to help their children spiritually grow and have a relationship with God. We know that is what you want, and we are uniquely equipped as a church to give you that help through iKidz, our ministry to children.
On the one hand, our iKidz ministry provides an engaging, age appropriate, fun experience for children. In iKidz, your child will experience a media driven, highly participatory environment that engages all of the senses to help children grow spiritually. An experience in iKidz leaves children wanting to come back to church. Church was never meant to be boring or torturous for children. So at iKidz, we will never let that be the case!
At the same time, our iKidz ministry leads to genuine life change in the lives of children. We partner with parents to empower parents to be the primary spiritual leaders for their children. Our teachers have an unbelievable amount of skill and experience in working with children and deliver an excellent experience for children birth through fifth grade.
